Harvest Update: Less than 10% of Soybeans to Go
Farmers were able to make significant progress in the fields last week. The finish line is in sight for many, if they aren't already done.
According to USDA’s crop progress report, 81% of corn and 91% of soybeans have been harvested so far, which is still slightly behind where progress was this time last year, but about 5% ahead of the five-year average.
Many growers across the U.S. are ahead of the average progress and report harvest is complete.

When analyzing the crop, some are undeniably seeing the effects of the summer’s drought.
I’m regards to yields this year what we’re seeing is hybrids didn’t matter, fertility didn’t matter, plant date didn’t matter. The good yielding corn is either next to a waterway, creek/stream, or in a low lying area. The bad corn is everywhere else. Needed water #Harvest23 #OATT — Mark Nelson (@MarkNel1026) November 2, 2023
To learn more about the crop conditions in your specific state, view USDA's interactive map.
As a whole, most states are preparing to wrap up harvest. All but three states (Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio) are at least 50% finished with corn acres and all but one state (North Carolina) has completed at least 70% of soybean acres.
Ohio and South Dakota had the most progress in corn acres with a 16% increase, and the largest increase in soybean acres was 15% in Michigan.
Looking toward the coming week for harvest conditions, mild weather is on the horizon.
A relatively quiet period will persist across the United States at least over the next 5 days, as a few weak low pressure systems track across the Northern Plains and Great Lakes.
Towards the weekend, more active flow arrives with a digging trough to the west. This will open up… pic.twitter.com/UnKev7VkjN — BAM Weather (BAMWX) (@bamwxcom) November 5, 2023
Growers are hoping this stretch will help them make those final passes.
It’s pretty odd to be able to service equipment in November and not need coveralls in the morning. Beautiful weather this week to try to get some corn out. #johndeere #harvest23 pic.twitter.com/lJ1MjV8OW4 — Chad O'Keefe (@chad_okeefe) November 7, 2023
