FS Agronomists Collect Corn Yield Data in Midwest
FS agronomists are traveling the Midwest collecting corn yield data as harvest begins.
Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin are among the states where data is currently being collected for the FS crop tour. The estimated yield and number of locations sampled will be uploaded to the FS Agronomy Yield Analyzer.
The yield analyzer clusters the map points, consolidated by a specific geographic area, and calculates the estimated yield of that area. It constantly changes as agronomists input new data daily.
“We can harness the power of our system with the yield analyzer because it allows each crop specialist in the Midwest to not only see how their field-level estimations are coming, but how it compares to the estimations throughout our system,” says Seth Geisler, Growmark senior agronomist.
As of Friday, September 15, the FS Agronomy Yield Analyzer app is reporting these estimates by state:
1. Kentucky: 226 bushels per acre with 71 locations sampled.
2. Ohio: 224 bushels per acre with 12 locations sampled.
3. Michigan: 216 bushels per acre with four locations sampled.
4. Illinois: 213 bushels per acre with 282 locations sampled.
5. Iowa: 213 bushels per acre with 178 locations sampled.
6. Missouri: 212 bushels per acre with 17 locations sampled.
7. Wisconsin: 209 bushels per acre with 11 locations sampled.
Up-to-date estimates are available in the app or through a web browser.
