Farmobile Index To Deliver Daily Yield Insights
After launching its Farmobile Index for Planting in 2019, the company is now expanding its benchmarking tools with Farmobile Index for Harvest.
The data for Farmobile Index for Harvest is crowdsourced by farmers who are using the Farmobile PUC device on their combine. The tool allows users to compare results against the USDA-NASS estimates, and all Farmobile subscribers have free access to this tool to view:
- daily, state-level crop insights as corn and soybeans are harvested.
- total aggregated harvested acres/yield for an individual state or group of states
- total aggregated harvested acres/yield for a chosen date range
With now planting and harvesting data available, the company is aiming to provide a full season of crop progress and benchmarking tools for its farmer subscribers.
“Unlike other means of evaluating crop yield — such as satellite imagery, rainfall, temperature maps, surveys, and public data — the Farmobile Index updates in real-time to uncover insights the rest of the marketplace may not realize for weeks,” Farmobile CEO Jason Tatge said in a product release. “When paired with the Farmobile Index for Planting, released this spring, the harvest functionality ultimately brings the power back to the farmer as they head into the harvest season. Adhering to its privacy and security standards, Formobile is displaying aggregated data—not identifiable farm-level data or individual electronic field records.
