China Is Continuing to Buy U.S. Soybeans
China Flash Sale 092719
The USDA announced another flash sale of soybeans to China on Friday. It added up to 126,000 mt of U.S. beans.
That brought the end of week total of Chinese bean buys to 964,000 mt.
It comes as China announces it is staying in close communication with the U.S. about upcoming trade talks. The country's Commerce Ministry says details are still under discussion about the high-level trade talks that are scheduled to start October 10th in Washington.
That's when Chinese Vice-Premier Liu He will meet with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.
A spokesman for the Commerce Ministry said China is hopeful of making progress at the talks. He pointed out that Chinese firms have made significant buys of U.S. pork and soybeans, and those purchases are exempt from tariffs.
