Syngenta to Introduce New Fungicide Seed Treatment
Farmers and retailers will have access to Syngenta’s newest fungicide seed treatment, Vayantis, for the 2020 season. It can be used in corn, soybeans, canola, oilseed rape and cereals.
The new seed treatment includes active ingredient Picarbutrazox, newly created chemical class by Nippon Soda. Syngenta Seedcare recently partnered with Nippon Soda to bring this technology to the market globally.
It provides control of diseases including Pythium and Phytophthora. With Pythium control, Syngenta says farmers will be able to use no-till or reduced till systems an avoid having to replant because of the disease.
“We are excited to be adding Vayantis to our broad seed treatment portfolio,” said Michiel De Jongh, global head of Syngenta Seedcare. “It will offer grower even more choices to control early seedling diseases to an unmatched level by ensuring stand uniformity with strong and healthy plant growth right from the start.”
Vayantis is to be used in combination with Apron to pair with genetic tolerance or even resistance in specific crops. First registrations are expected in U.S. and Canada.
