BASF Supports Cotton Growers with Zero Percent APR*

Cotton growers are tough because they have to be. Cotton is a challenging crop to grow, especially in Southwestern states like Texas, where soaring temperatures meet chronic drought and other water restrictions.

BASF continues to support these growers as a committed partner. To demonstrate that commitment, BASF is again offering fixed 0% APR financing to qualified cotton growers for 2024 with a $5,000 minimum purchase. The program period (February 1 – September 30) and payment terms (January 2025) remain the same as last year’s program.

BASF’s 2023 Grower Finance Program* maintained low-interest financing despite multiple federal rate hikes. In 2024, growers can count on that support again. With a $5,000 minimum purchase of either FiberMax® or Stoneville® cottonseed, cotton growers may qualify for this special financing.  Terms and conditions apply.  See program document for full details.

“We understand the risk and uncertainty associated with growing cotton,” explains Bryan Perry, head of U.S. Seeds & Traits, BASF U.S. Agricultural Solutions. “We’re looking at financing as a way to invest in a crop. For cotton, the risk is so much greater due to the volatility of the environmental conditions.” Payment terms extend to January 2025, to accommodate cotton farmers who have the extra step of ginning their crop before determining its full value.

Investing in Seed Innovation

FiberMax cotton seeds are specifically designed to better withstand extreme conditions, including heat and drought, that have become the norm in the Western Cotton Belt. FiberMax varieties offer genetic advancements for the proven yield potential, fiber quality and consistent performance that growers expect, and comprehensive herbicide trait packages.

Stoneville® cotton seeds have a long legacy of helping growers get more value from every cotton acre. Through hard-working native traits and innovative technology, Stoneville cotton varieties perform well against tough-to-control, increasingly resistant pests, weeds, nematodes and insects.

In addition to native trait advancements in 2024, BASF will debut Axant Flex Herbicide Tolerance Technology, a new seed trait in select FiberMax and Stoneville varieties. Cotton’s first quad-stacked herbicide trait offers enhanced weed management while providing the fiber quality and yield potential that growers expect from these highly respected brands.

“Our financing option for cotton growers proves our commitment to this market,” Perry says. “Others come and go, depending on their risk tolerance, but we’ve kept our program at zero [percent].” Why? Because BASF believes that farming is the Biggest Job on Earth and remains a reliable partner for people tough enough to do that job.
