Raven Commercializes First Autonomy Product
After acquiring Smart Ag in the fall of 2019, Raven has opened pre-orders AutoCart, the autonomous grain cart technology initially developed by Smart Ag.
Raven plans to have its units in the field with customers in time for the 2021 harvest season.
“This technology showcases the dedication and world-class innovation of Raven,” Brian Meyer, Vice President of Raven Applied Technology said in a news release. “We set out to Solve Great Challenges, and Driverless Ag Technology is an incredible advancement that gives the farmer time back and improves the efficiency of harvest.
The company states its mission to bridge the gap from human-operated to fully-autonomous platforms. As an example, AutoCart replaces the need for 340 man hours in the tractor with the grain cart.
AutoCart is a driverless tractor setup where the tractor pulling a grain cart syncs with the combine as it offloads on the go. The AutoCart platform lets teh farmer set a field plan, stage locations, adjust speeds, monitor location activity and set a predetermined unloading area.
The company also purchased the startup DOT, which is a fully autonomous platform. But AutoCart is its first product to be available for purchase in the Driverless Ag Technology lineup.
“Raven Autonomy has made great strides in our dedication to autonomous technology,” said Sarah Waltner, General Manager of Raven Applied Technology. “Raven currently has two autonomous solutions being used in operations today, offering driverless spraying, seeding, spreading and grain cart functionalities.”
