Legend Seeds Now Employee Owned

Legend Seeds Now Employee Owned

As of Aug. 1, Legend seeds is an employee owned independent seed company. It was founded in 1990 by Glen and Janet Davis and had been family owned until this recent switch.

Legend Seeds employs more than 100 people in the upper Midwest. The new Employee Stock Ownership Plan gives all employees ownership in the company, along with other current shareholders and the Davis family. The family plans to stay involved in the company’s leadership.

“With so much change in the industry, we’ve spent a lot of time planning for the future of Legend Seeds to provide certainty and stability not only for our employees, but for our dealers,” said Glen Davis, CEO and founder in a recent press release. “The transition to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan will do three things: Assure Legend’s future for both staff and dealers, allow Legend to continue to operate with its core value and focus in place and remain a strong, healthy independent seed company with an incredibly bright future.”
