3 Tips for Checking Irrigation Equipment After Flood Damage
As floodwaters recede, it’s time to start examining structures and equipment to make sure it survived the flood. Reinke Manufacturing offers farmers tips for farmers to check their irrigation equipment.
To be safe, make sure waters are receded before checking structures and equipment. Reinke suggests first contacting the dealership to inspect the irrigation system and then offers the following tips:
- Be aware of electrical safety hazards because of debris striking electrical components on equipment, broken power lines and other unforeseen dangers.
- Know that some areas require a permit before restoring power.
- Contact your insurance company to file any potential claims and do so quickly.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the farmers and ranchers who are suffering because of the historic flooding that has hit the Midwest,” said Chris Roth, Reinke president in a recent press release. “Many of us have never seen this level of flooding before, so we wanted to make sure growers are safe as they head out into their fields. Your safety is the utmost importance.”
