Viterra Completes Acquisition of Gavilon
Originally announced in January of 2022, the acquisition of Gavilon by Viterra is now completed. It was said to have been acquired from Marubeni Corp for $1.125 billion plus working capital. Marubeni acquired Gavilon in 2013.
Viterra—The Agriculture Network operates in more than 37 countries with 180+ storage facilities, 30+ processing facilities, 25 port terminals and transport assets and 17,000 employees. Viterra’s agricultural product focus is on wheat, soybeans, corn, barley, pulses, sorghum, oilseeds, protein meal, biodiesel, glycerine, sugar, and cotton.
According to the company’s news release: “Gavilon’s integration into the Viterra network will create new and exciting opportunities for our customers and our people. The combination of the businesses will enable us to provide more value and flexibility to our customers. Producers will gain access to Viterra’s global supply chains and extensive consumer base, opening new markets for their products.”
Viterra sees this acquisition as strengthening the sustainability of its supply chain—particularly with higher levels of quality control and reliability.
The release also stated: Our people will continue to provide the great service you have come to expect from Gavilon. We are excited to become part of the Viterra team, which will allow us to offer additional expertise, opportunities, and solutions for our customers, further strengthening the relationships we have built over many years.”
Branding of Gavilon assets, products and services will begin changing in early 2023.
