In its first two years, Agoro Carbon says it has made $15 million in payments to farmers and ranchers.

“In just two years, Agoro Carbon Alliance has seen immense growth and success throughout the United States and we could not have done it without the farmers and ranchers who partner with us to increase the longevity of their operations,” Agoro Carbon interim CEO, Elliot Formal said in the company’s announcement.

Last year the company said its payments totaled $9 million so far.

Across 24 states, Agoro has signed up participants who the company said will sequester 5 million tons of carbon over 10 years.

The Agoro Carbon program is a 10-year contract which pays for a change practice aiming to increase carbon sequestration. These include cover crops, no-till, reduced tillage, nitrogen management and rotational grazing.

“Agoro Carbon is committed to working hand-in-hand with farmers and ranchers every step of the way along their carbon journey, providing them with agronomic support that will result in more sustainable businesses and improving bottom lines. Our program is committed to generating the highest quality soil carbon credits in the market through our robust scientific expertise and collaborations with leading universities,” Formal said.

Agoro uses its own soil organic carbon measurement process using modeling, soil sampling and lab analysis.
