Syngenta and Intrinsyx Bio Collaborate On A Biological Solution
Syngenta and Intrinsyx Bio are teaming up to boost access to a custom selection of Intrinsyx Bio’s proprietary endophyte formulations.
Endophytes work to increase the availability and uptake of nutrients, such as phosphorus, and reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers.
“This agreement represents another opportunity to expand the reach of our ‘biology that works.’ Partnering with Syngenta allows farmers around the world to benefit from endophytes proven mode of action and extensive field testing that improves nutrient use efficiency and increases crop yields,” said Greg Thompson, CEO of Intrinsyx Bio.
Formulations will be offered as seed treatment and foliar application and have been tested in more than 20 crops.
“This collaboration reflects Syngenta’s commitment to transforming the future of agriculture, with innovations that improve the sustainability of farming,” said Jonathan Brown, global head of Syngenta Biologicals and Seedcare. “We’re particularly excited to offer a broad range of formulations that will help farmers take the care of young plants to the next level, while protecting the health of their soil.”
FBN’s Recent Leadership Changes
FBN has appointed Dean Williams as the lead of FBN Direct, its agricultural inputs division, beginning earlier this month on July 8.
“FBN has differentiated itself as a farmer-facing marketplace powered by technology and rooted in data and transparency,” Williams said. “I look forward to working with such a dedicated, farmer first team. FBN is showing that technology can be a game-changer for farmers and their operations.”
Williams was previously head of product management at Simplot Grower Solutions.
“Dean’s background in the ag retail sector is a great fit to lead FBN Direct. Every role Dean has had was centered on serving farmers. At FBN we put farmers first and are obsessed with delivering the best customer experience and value to our members. With his expertise, we are positioned to continue our growth as a leader in ag tech,” said Diego Casanello, CEO of FBN.
The company has also transitioned Ian Loar, the current country manager of FBN Direct for the U.S., to lead its platform development efforts.
Loar’s role will focus on building strategic partnerships with agribusinesses seeking to access the digital-commerce space and bring new portfolio categories and product offers to FBN’s farmer members.
Intrepid Potash Appoints Chair, Begins Search for New CEO
Intrepid Potash has elected Barth Whitham, formerly lead independent director, as its chair.
The company is also searching for a new CEO to replace Bob Jornayvaz, who remains on extended medical leave. During this time, CFO Matt Preston will serve as acting principal executive officer.
“We wish Bob well as he continues his recovery, however we recognize that it is unlikely that he will return to his CEO role,” said Whitham. “The board has therefore determined it is in the best interest of the Company to initiate a search for a new CEO to continue to execute our strategic plan. In the interim, we have full confidence in Matt and the rest of the management team to continue to lead Intrepid during this process.”
The board also appointed Intrepid director Hugh Harvey as chair of the compensation committee. Jornayvaz remains a director.
