The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) extended the emergency declaration, which first began in March 2020 in response to the pandemic, through Aug. 31, 2021.
This extension will provide continued regulatory relief for commercial motor vehicle operations providing direct assistance in support of transportation of essential items such as agricultural supplies.
FMCSA also extended other waivers related to pandemic response through Aug. 31 such as:
- Waiver for States Concerning Third Party CDL Skills Test Examiners
- Waiver for States and CLP Holders Operating Commercial Motor Vehicles
- Waiver for States, CDL Holders, CLP Holders and Interstate Drivers Operating Commercial Motor Vehicles
- Notice of Enforcement Policy Regarding Expiring Driver’s Licenses and Medical Examiners Certificates
- Notice of Enforcement Discretion Determination Concerning Certain Requirements for States
