CHS is opening a new state-of-the-art facility, called the CHS Crop Science Research and Development Center, in Randolph, Minn. The new research center was completed in January of this year and will complement the in-field trials the company conducts across its trade territory.

“This research center will play a critical role in shaping the future of the CHS agronomic portfolio,” said Dean Hendrickson, vice president for crop protection research and development at CHS. “We’re committed to developing solutions that bring the best products and services to our customers and owners, exceeding their needs. We’ll apply the rigor and ambitious standards to our research trials that CHS customers have come to trust and rely on.”

According to CHS, the building materials used for the facility will improve light transmission, enhance thermal efficiency and increase the building’s life expectancy. Researchers using the center will be able to simulate up to four growing seasons per year while replicating up to six growing environments and reproducing conditions across several agricultural regions.

“Our customers, retailers and distributors are operating in dynamic times with the sheer volume of new products coming at them every day,” said Brian Kuehl, CHS director of product development for crop protection. “The new CHS research center gives us more control over the R&D process and helps ensure that when a new product meets our stringent criteria and is ready for market, we can provide critical information to our customers and demonstrate the efficacy data they require.”
