Acquisition Beefs Up Sprayer Potential With Lightweight Aluminum Booms
In mid-July, CNH Industrial announced its acquisition of Specialty Enterprises, the provider of Case IH’s aluminum spray booms since 2020.
Based in Wautoma, Wisconsin, Specialty Enterprises has one manufacturing site and uses aluminum sourced and extruded in the U.S. for its agricultural spray boom production.
Case IH leaders say this acquisition is part of its strategic road map by owning a direct supplier for its sprayer lineup and highlights its Agronomic Design for less field compaction, less rutting and better weight distribution.
“We are thrilled to be working so closely with Specialty, which has been a fantastic partner to Case IH over the last few years, as we deliver more productive application solutions,” said Scott Harris, Case IH global president. “This acquisition strengthens our in-house capabilities and allows us to retain key strategic personnel to ensure continuity in this vertical integration.”
The aluminum booms provide longer boom widths and lighter specifications being 50% lighter than a steel design.
The Specialty Enterprise aluminum booms will be implemented across the Case IH sprayer product range.
The company has engineered aluminum booms with multiple patents to “virtually eliminate” fatigue cracking.
“At Case IH, one of our primary crop production goals is to help operators cover more acres more efficiently, with solutions that are built to last,” said Monte Weller, Case IH global product manager for Crop Production and Hay & Forage product lines. “This acquisition will be key to providing operators with the equipment and agronomic solutions they need to feed a growing world.”
Case IH says the lightweight and longer booms provided by the aluminum design will provide a platform for additional technologies.
