100% Digital Contracts Saves Co-Op a Whole Position
With two years of experience in giving growers a more digital experience, Brice Bonin from Nu-Way K&H Cooperative shares some lessons learned in that journey.
“We recognized a lot of customers are wanting to do business in a digital aspect, especially even just pay bills,” she says.
Their co-op launched the agronomy business via its grower portal first, and in the next three months they had 80% of key accounts signed on.
Now, it’s part of their process in how they conduct business.
”We require our account managers to make sure that all fertilizer orders are placed on the portal so we have the digital contracts there,” she says. Going 100% digital helped the co-op save a whole position.
Other benefits have been the workload on the staff.
“It takes a lot off our internal staff, and it provides access to our growers when we aren’t open. There’s a lot of business happening before 6 a.m.,” she says.
One lesson she shares is applying patience. Particularly with specific aspects to the energy business (pricing, local taxes) it takes a detailed approach.
“With this kind of complexity, sometimes patience helps you get it right,” she says.
