Show Farmers They Can Trust You
Blaine Groth has used the philosophy of “I want to sell to help them, I don't want to sell just to sell.” He sees another powerful wave of technology adoption in technology in the next five years. And he thinks it’ll be powered by trusted advisers helping farmers realize the opportunities with these tech tools.
Groth is currently transitioning from a role with Renk Seed as a technology adviser to a new job with Proagrica. Groth’s professional career has also included a tech adviser role at VanWall Implement. And he also farms.
“I wouldn't say I'm unique because I'm also a farmer, but I think that does give you an edge because you can really talk the talk with farmers,” he says. “You can understand really the pains they're going through and what they need on their farm.”
While some farmers have put heavy skepticism on how they use technology on their farm, he sees this as an opportunity in the near future.
“I think we're going to see another wave for precision ag adoption,” Groth says.
“Some of those farmers that weren't at a certain farm size, maybe they just didn't have a younger person pushing them to adopt, or for whatever reason they didn't do anything, and I just think that's really going to accelerate here in the next five to 10 years.”
The best tool he’s found to help farmers increase their use and benefits of technology is rooting their applications to solve problems or issues they are having.
“If you sell to actually solve a problem and help them on their farm, they're gonna come back for more and you're going to build that trust,” he says.
