In September, Ostara broke ground on its Crystal Green fertilizer production facility in St. Louis.

The company says it plans to have product ready for the 2024 growing season. Its scale will produce up to 200,000 tons per year for North American distribution.

“Access to world-class manufacturing talent, as well as the river, railways, and interstate, in the heart of some of the most productive agricultural lands in the world makes St. Louis an ideal location for Ostara’s next phase as we realize our vision of global expansion,” said Kerry Cebul, chief executive officer at Ostara. “We are thrilled to add over 40 new jobs to the St. Louis region, to promote economic growth, and to continue our mission to help feed the world while protecting it.”

The company says its product combats the common loss issues experienced with phosphate application as 90% can be lost to fixation, runoff and leaching. Crystal Green features “Root-activated” phosphorus technology via a unique solubility to provide season-long phosphate to crops. Its guaranteed analysis is 5% Nitrogen, 28% available phosphate, and 10% magnesium.
