Look Back At 10 Years of The Story Behind Precision Planting
Precision Planting was founded in 1993 by Gregg Sauder and his wife, Cindy, in Tremont, Illinois.
In 2012, the company's software and hardware products included seed metering, yield mapping, planter monitoring and fertilizer attachments. That year started a new era for Precision Planting as it was first acquired by Monsanto. Today it's part of AGCO, and just launched a whole new product platform. Here's a look back at the past 10 years in the company's history:
And what is Gregg Sauder doing now? In 2014, he founded Yield360.
"Yield360 is a revolutionary approach for farmers who want to capture yield potential," Sauder said. "The plants are always telling us what they need. The system allows the farmer to listen to the crop, provides tools to interpret the message and then take action. The system allows farmers to listen to the whole environment, which is both above and below the soil – both visible and invisible."
One of its most recent products is the 360 Rain, an autonomous watering system for row crops.
