The Board of Managers for GreenPoint Ag has officially appointed Amy Winstead as the company’s next Chief Executive Officer. Winstead, who currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Retail, was selected following what board leadership described as a “thorough and intentional” search process. She succeeds Jeff Blair, who was the newly formed GreenPoint’s first CEO and departed the cooperative earlier this spring.

Leadership Profile

Winstead brings over 20 years of agricultural experience to the CEO role. In her most recent position as SVP of Retail, she managed a multi-location operation exceeding $900 million in revenue. Her career highlights include:

  • Extensive background in digital innovation and operational optimization at GreenPoint Ag and Agri-AFC.
  • Nearly a decade of experience with the Alabama and Georgia Cooperative Extension systems, focusing on ag technology advancement.
  • Winstead currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA) and the Ag Data Coalition.

Strategic Impact

The appointment signals a continued focus on integrating technology with traditional retail service. Leah Anderson, Chair of the GreenPoint Ag Board, emphasized that Winstead’s deep understanding of the cooperative system and her “servant leadership” style are key to maintaining strong relationships with member cooperatives and grower customers. Upon Blair’s departure the board said it would pursue an expedited search, and Joey Caldwell was interim CEO while not a candidate for the full time position.

GreenPoint Ag’s Industry Influence

Based in the Southeast, GreenPoint Ag is a major player in the ag retail space, providing crop nutrients, crop protection products, seed, and professional agronomy services to growers across the region. Founded in September 2020, GreenPoint Ag formed a new $1 billion agronomy business venture combining Agri-AFC, GreenPoint AG, and Tennessee Farmers Cooperative. Its nearly 100 ag retail and wholesale locations span 11 states from Georgia to Texas.
