Just two weeks after announcing its new optimization business model, Landus Cooperative has added Snittjer Grain as its second partner.
Located in Wellsburg, Iowa, Snittjer Grain is an indepedent grain elevator that has been in business for 60 years.
“We’re building momentum for this new way of collaborating across retail agriculture,” Matt Carstens, President and CEO, Landus said in a news release. “We believe this is a better alternative to a traditional merger or acquisition and it is great to be working with such a highly-regarded independent company as Snittjer.”
When the optimization model was announced, Landus said the goal was to bring a way to maximize capital investments, infrastructure capacity, and employee talent.
As part of this new agreement with Snittjer, J.R. Kennedy, its general manager, will maintain his role while joining the Landus grain merchandising part-time.
“We’re excited to be working with such a solid company as Landus to build a bigger and better future for our customers and for agriculture in Iowa,” said Kennedy. “I’m also personally looking forward to joining the Landus grain merchandising team.”
The first optimization partner Landus announced was NuWay-K&H, a cooperative in southern Minnesota.
