Aurora Cooperative, which has 40 agronomy locations in central Nebraska, has made two upgrades to two of its fertilizer facilities this spring.

The facility in Minden, Neb., added a 500,000 UAN tank and new loadout system. The increased capacity is welcomed as the location manager Randall Horine said the location ran out of product almost every day last spring. The newly installed Kahler system allows trucks to be loaded in just 10 minutes, which is an improvement over the previous 30-minute load time.

Farmer Cody Steinkruger said in a news release when describing the experience of using the new Minden facility, “It never did take long to get loads out to the field, but this year, it’s been like clockwork. We have never had to wait on fertilizer. I went in to get my nurse tank filled and there was a semi-truck in front of me in line, and it only took 10 minutes to load. It’s really fast, and it’s definitely an upgrade to this area.”

Additionally, the cooperative has relocated its facility for serving the Doniphan, Neb., area. The site includes a loadout system especially designed for traffic flow with load times of 11 minutes, as well as a 175’ chemical warehouse, and a planned footprint for 230,000 gallon anhydrous tanks with two pumps for 8-minute fill times.

“Our growers should be very happy with getting in and out in a timely manner this year,” location manager Cory Mescher said in a news release. “The plant is just more grower and employee friendly.”
