DJI announced the international launch of the Agras T50 and Agras T25 application drones. Building on the Agras drone line, the T50 offers improved efficiency for larger-scale growing operations, while the lightweight T25 is designed to be more portable for smaller fields. Both drones are compatible with the upgraded DJI SmartFarm app.

“Bestway Ag has been fortunate to conduct pre-launch testing and evaluation flights with the new Agras T50,” said Rhyan Syester, Bestway Ag drone specialist and owner/operator of Veteran Drone Services. “The T50 is in a completely different league from the T40 and features improved terrain-following capabilities.

“And the increased flow rate of the redesigned pumps opens up various applications that were not possible before. When coupled with the optional four-nozzle system, you can now achieve flow rates as high as 6.34 gallons per minute, which is a significant step up from the T40,” he added.

DJI on Data Security

DJI continues to place high priority on data privacy and puts farmers and service providers in control of their data’s use, according to the company.

DJI shared the following data security notes in the press release:

  • No flight logs, photos, or videos are synced with DJI by default.
  • DJI Agras drones are designed to store data locally in the remote control and the drone.
  • Operators must opt-in to share or store data on DJI servers.
  • For users outside of the Chinese mainland, drone data shared with DJI are housed in U.S., Japan, and European servers (depending on where the user is based) and TLS-protected.
  • Any personal data shared for account registration is further secured with AES-256 encryption.
  • Operators can easily delete any data they have shared through their DJI account or by contacting DJI Support.

Agras T50 Details

The Agras T50 inherits a coaxial dual-rotor design and 54-inch propellers for increased stability when carrying 40kg spraying or 50kg spreading payloads, which enables application of up to 50 acres (21 hectares) per hour.

T50’s dual atomization spraying system features an increased flow rate of up to 16 liters per minute with two sprinklers and adjustable-sized spray droplets, making it ideal for a variety of applications from fields to orchards, according to DJI. Easily converted to its spreading configuration, the T50 can carry 50 kg of dry granules and spread at a flow rate of up to 108 kg/min or 1.5 tonnes per hour.

T50 extends the remote controller-drone connection up to 2 km. For operations over mountains and other complex environments, users can deploy a DJI Relay to extend transmission range and signal stability.

T50 features dual Active Phased Array Radars and binocular vision sensors. These work together to reconstruct the T50’s surroundings and detect nearby obstacles, for intelligent obstacle sensing and bypassing.

Agras T25 Details

The Agras T25 packs all the advanced features of the T50 into a smaller footprint. It can carry a 20kg spraying or 25kg spreading payload and includes the T50’s top features like multidirectional obstacle avoidance, Terrain Following, ultra-fast battery charging, one-tap takeoffs, and automatic operations. This makes it ideal for use in small to medium-sized farms.

Four Sprinkler Kit

T50 can be equipped with an additional pair of centrifugal sprinklers, increasing flow rate to 24 liters per minute. This benefits tasks like orchard spraying that require a higher flow rate to penetrate dense canopies and treat the fronts and backs of leaves.

9-Minute Fast Charging

T50 is powered by a DB1560 Intelligent Flight Battery, with a capacity of up to 30 Ah and 1500 charge cycles. The D12000iEP Multifunctional Inverter Generator paired with the Air-Cooled Heat Sink enables 9-minutes fast charging, allowing for continuous operations with a pair of batteries.
