Certis Biologicals Acquires Two New Fungicides From AgBiome
Certis Biologicals has acquired multiple assets from AgBiome, including their Howler and Theia fungicides. These will add to the current Certis portfolio of more than 40 pest, disease and weed products.
“Certis Biologicals is committed to contributing to the growing biologicals market,” said Jow-Lih Su, interim CEO, Certis Biologicals. “Adding these proprietary technologies to our growing portfolio will help ensure continuity in the market and allow us to continue bringing innovative solutions to agriculture.”
Howler is intended to help manage disease in specialty crops such as grapes, vegetables, tuber and root crops, berries and pome fruits. It can be used at all production phases and is registered in all U.S. states.
Like Howler, Theia works in specialty crops including citrus, grapes, cucurbits, stone fruits and fruiting vegetables. It is a biological product meant to control soilborne and foliar disesases including alternaria, blight, phytophthora, powdery mildew and pythium.
AgBiome says both products provide similar efficacy to synthetic chemicals while providing environmental benefits.
“Howler and Theia complement our existing portfolio of biofungicides, including Double Nickel and our newest product for large-acre crops, Convergence,” said Chris Judd, vice president, North America, Certis Biologicals. “These products will constitute a fungicide portfolio that can provide unmatched control for all growers, from specialty and high-value crops to large-acre commodity crops.”
