ARA has been working hard to advance several policies that benefit ag retailers and their farmer customers.

1.) The Senate voted to reverse the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) rulemaking related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Implementing Regulations Revisions.

ARA’s Richard Gupton made a statement commending this reform and urging the House of Representatives to pass this resolution as soon as possible.

2.) The Senate passed the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) after ARA co-signed a letter in June as part of the Ag Transportation Working group.

This will improve the cost share for inland waterways construction projects and block efforts to breach the Lower Snake River Dams. While this bill, led by the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee, still must pass through the House, ARA recognizes this as a step in the right direction.

3.) The Freight Rail Shipping Fair Market Act was introduced following an Ag Transportation Working Group letter, co-signed by ARA, that was sent to House Committee leaders.

ARA supports this legislation because it will reauthorize the Surface Transportation Board (STB) and create a fair marketplace for the Class I freight railroads and their captive shippers. Learn more.

4.) ARA comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) led to the agency issuing a 30-day extension of public comment period for Proposed Revisions to the Atrazine Interim Registration Review Decision and supporting documents.

The new closing date of Oct. 7.
