Industry groups are expressing concern about the federal vaccine mandate for private companies because it will be “redundant and costly” for companies already supporting vaccination among their staff and hurt businesses with barely more than 100 employees if they lose staff to competitors not covered by the mandate.
The American Trucking Association is asking the Biden administration to consider exempting truckers from the vaccine mandate for private companies, arguing that drivers are similar to remote workers because they do not interact with another employee for days or weeks at a time.
ARA shares these concerns and sent a letter in September to President Biden opposing the employer-enforced vaccine mandate requirement, not because we question the science of the vaccine effectiveness, but because of its likely impact on already-tight employment situations for ag employers.
