Farm Journal Field Days: Visit A Cutting-Edge Kansas Operation
Farm Journal is bringing producers together at some of America’s top farms and we want you to be one of them.
Join us in Colby, Kan., on Aug. 26-27 for a behind-the-scenes look at Frahm Farmland. The operation is the product of six generations of hard-working and innovative farmers.
Today, the operation is led by CEO Lon Frahm. In 1986, Frahm’s father passed away unexpectedly, and Frahm took over the operation at age 27. Under his direction, the operation has grown from 6,000 to 36,000 acres of row crops.

Listen in as Frahm chats with AgriTalk’s Davis Michaelsen:
Frahm Farmland is known for consistent adoption of technology, charitable giving, industry-leading employee benefits and sustainable farm practices. The operation includes 80 center pivots and almost 4 million bushels of grain storage with dryers. This year will be the 24th year of no-till practices on the operation.
Frahm, who was named Top Producer of the Year in 2009, says one of his career highlights was earning a master’s in agribusiness from Kansas State University.
“When I was 40 years old, I went back to Kansas State University and got my masters,” he says. “That made all the difference in the world. I don't think I could be leading this farm had I not done that. It's really part of my vision and mission to educate and share.”
Frahm and his team are excited to showcase the operation and welcome fellow farmers on Aug. 26-27.
During the Farm Journal Field Days in-person event at Frahm Farmland, attendees will also watch a live taping of U.S. Farm Report, hosted by Tyne Morgan.
Panelists include Arlan Suderman, StoneX; Tanner Ehmke, CoBank; and Drew Moore, Advance Trading.
