Koch Agronomic Services is reintroducing its nutritional seed enhancer product as Protivate, where it was previously known as Rocket Seeds before the Compass Minerals acquisition.

Protivate is formulated with a proprietary blends of nutrients that can be applied directly to the seed for corn, soybean, cotton, wheat, canola, and alfalfa crops.

There are three formulations, and all include phosphate, manganese and zinc to get the crop started with strong establishment and root growth.

The NU4-DRI product also contains nitrogen, and can be applied by the grower in the planter.

For soybean and pulse crops, NU5-DRI and NU5-LUX also contain iron and molybdenum, to specifically encourage the metabolic process, proper nodulation development and efficient nitrogen fixation. While NU5-DRI can be applied at the planter, NU5-LUX is used in downstream/retailer applications and contains a shine component.

“Growers need every advantage they can get to combat the limiting factors that are out of their control,” said Tim Laatsch, the North America director of agronomy at KAS. “Protivate is a tool in a grower’s toolbox to alleviate post-planting uncertainties surrounding nutrient availability. At planting, we often encounter cold and wet soils — factors which restrict the access of critical nutrients and cause poor emergence.”

Protivate is a tool for proper planter performance as it can be a replacement for talc as a seed lubricant and additionally is a seed-drying source to enable seed singulation, even in high humidity conditions.

Koch Agronomic Services also highlights Protivate as supporting the 4R Nutrient Stewardship framework, so crops get the nutrition they need from the right source, at the right rate and time, in the right place.
