Fullei Fresh offers stand-up pouch for sprouts
Sprout grower Fullei Fresh, Miami, is now packing its mung bean sprouts for retail in stand-up pouches instead of clamshells.
The 8-ounce pouches feature a clear product window and are tamper-proof with a tear strip and resealable with a zipper lock closure, according to a news release.
Fullei’s clamshell package held only 6.5 ounces of sprouts.
The new pouch bags will be in stores the first week of October, according to the release.
Fullei Fresh is third-party audited by NSF and certified compliant with Sprout Safety Alliance protocols, and the company tests every lot for E. coli and salmonella prior to shipping, also routinely testing for listeria and verifying its cleaning procedures, according to the release.
